My Story

This June, I will be taking part in Earth Wind & Tyre, a 100-mile cycle challenge. I decided to take on this challenge to support the work of Renewable World. As some of you know, I am making a gentle return to cycling after a serious accident in September 2021; 100 miles in a month is 100 miles further than I could have managed back then, indeed at any time up until now. Whether or not I get back to doing that sort of mileage in a day, as I used to do, remains to be seen. As I approach my 69th birthday, maybe I should realise that I'm not 19 any more anyway :)  Whatever the outcome, I'll be happy with it, and am profoundly grateful to all the NHS staff who've aided my recovery at a time when their working lives have been fraught with unimaginable stress and difficulty. And it's great to have a sensible cycling target to work towards whilst at the same time helping a great cause. Thanks so much to all of you who have donated already. I, and Renewable World, really appreciate your kindness and generosity.

If you haven't done so already, please support my challenge by donating to Renewable World. Your support will help ensure that they can continue their work to increase access to clean, affordable and sustainable energy.

Renewable World specialises in developing and deploying effective ways of bringing off-grid renewable energy solutions to the most remote and underserved communities, empowering them to achieve sustainable and resilient lives.

Since 2008, they have reached over 66,000 people with renewable energy technologies and services. But they need your help to continue (em)powering communities in Nepal and Kenya towards a more sustainable and brighter tomorrow.
